The Secret Under Vernal

When twelve‑year‑old Brynn Walker opens her front door in Vernal, Utah, she expects another ordinary morning. What she finds instead is an egg—warm, glowing, and pulsing with a heartbeat. And it’s addressed to her.

No note. No explanation. Just two words: Protect this.

Brynn has always felt a little out of place—too quiet, too curious, too convinced that the world is bigger than what people in her small town believe. But nothing prepares her for what hatches from the mysterious egg… or the danger that follows.

As strange creatures appear in the shadows of the Uinta Mountains and a secretive stranger begins asking questions, Brynn realizes the egg wasn’t left by accident. Someone—or something—chose her.

Now she must uncover the truth behind the creature she’s sworn to protect, before the forces hunting it close in. With her best friend, a reluctant older brother, and a creature unlike anything she’s ever imagined, Brynn is thrust into an adventure that will test her courage, her loyalty, and her heart.

Perfect for readers ages 8–12 who love magical creatures, small‑town mysteries, brave girls, and stories filled with wonder.
