Grace Moreau, born in the high society of 18th Century France, was a gifted pianist, champion of women’s rights, visionary fashion icon who changed the industry, a victim of rape, and guardian of a mysterious Rose Crystal pendant that endowed its keeper with eternal youth, healing and immortality - as long as she never fell in love. That promise was near impossible to uphold, yet she did, even though the love of her life (Marcel) was within her grasp. When tragedy struck and Marcel was killed, that dream of love became a nightmare.

Then, a violent attack changed Grace in ways she could never have imagined. For the rest of her life she lived a lie, married to the man who raped her to give her daughter, Rose, a proper place in society.  As Grace approached 107 years of life, her desire to be with Marcel throughout eternity became her only desire. As a popular musical performer, shrewd business woman, riverboat card shark, prominent figure in San Francisco’s Barbary Coast night life, and defender of racial equality, Rose eventually came to understand that she and her mother were merely spiritual “runners” who carried the crystal through the centuries, when at last it would find its pre-destined home.
