THE CITY THAT GREW TEETH: Something is growing beneath the streets

At exactly **3:17 a.m.**, every resident of the city of Bellhaven hears the same sound.

A deep cracking noise beneath the streets. By morning, the city has changed. A strange white substance has appeared between the pavement stones.

At first, scientists believe it is an unknown fungus. Then they discover that it isn't fungus.

It is **tooth enamel**. Hundreds of enormous teeth are growing beneath Bellhaven.

Within days, buildings begin shifting. Roads split apart. Underground tunnels disappear.

And people start reporting that the pavement is moving beneath their feet. **Dr. Mara Voss, a forensic pathologist, is called to investigate when the first body is discovered.

The victim has no external injuries. But inside the corpse is something impossible: A perfectly formed human tooth growing around the heart.

Mara and a small group of investigators descend beneath the city. What they discover changes everything.

Bellhaven wasn't built on bedrock. The entire city was constructed on top of something enormous.

Something biological. Something that has been sleeping beneath the earth for thousands of years.

And the teeth aren't growing randomly. They are forming a mouth. The city is becoming part of a living organism.

Then the earthquakes begin. Buildings bend. Subway tunnels close like throats. Entire streets disappear underground.

And people begin hearing a voice beneath the city. A voice that speaks directly into their minds: **"I am hungry." ****

Mara realizes the horrifying truth. Bellhaven isn't being destroyed. **It is being eaten. **** And the thing beneath it has finally become awake.
