The continent of Quisillon is a magical, fantastical realm filled to the brim with a diverse collective of species. Every being—human, goblin, robot, manticore, and others—has no need for fear......for the people are protected by the remarkable peacekeepers known as the Asaan al-Atollen—or the Shadow Sirens—who also wield powerful magic at their disposal should situations escalate.

The Asaan al-Atollen's all-women ranks are split up into three factions: Recruits, Acolytes, and Sisters......of which the dutiful, observant, and loyal Malina Varkallas is one. Quite possibly one of the Asaan al-Atollen's most notable champions, her mentor, the Reverend Mother Diadra Maurian, has regularly doted on her and her skill......and has even chosen her to begin training to become her "Shadow Scion"; her chief enforcer, bodyguard, extension of her will......and, eventually, her destined successor.

But the journey ahead will not be easy. Quisillon's greatest enemies, the Wyrmriders—who have already begun regularly oppressing the continent since their victory over the continent's people during the harrowing Dragonsbane Wars—have recently increased their grip, hold, and aggression across Quisillon's many species......and for Malina, the window of time she has is rapidly closing. Will she master the powers of the Shadow Scion in time to beat back the Wyrmriders' renewed threat, or will all of the continent fall for good under the beasts' thrall?
